The water clarity has been phenomenal. However, fishing or should I say catching has been tough. We have been below 60-degree water temperature for a while and the bite has been cold as well. We finally made it back to the low 60s this report period but, the fish must still be stunned. Only a few fish hit the deck. The following species were caught, Flounder, Bonnet Head Shark, Black Drum, Black Sea Bass and Squid.
Typically, February is Sheepshead month, and they have been around. Several days, numerous fish were congregated around and swimming between the pilings. We offered them everything in the book, but they were not interested. None were caught during this report period. Mike did tease one to bite last Wednesday evening after I had penned the previous report.
A few Flounder are still hanging around, but you had to be persistent to put one on the deck. A hand full were caught but that was a total for everyone on the pier. Steve fished all week to get this one he invited for dinner.

On the unusual side, John decked a nice Black Sea Bass today. It is not rare, but they are not around often.

Squid are beginning to show in numbers. George caught around 100 starting about sunset one evening. It took about three hours with spot lights, but he got enough to make it worth the time invested.
